Sedation

At Rosharon Family Dental, your comfort and dental health is our priority. If you have been putting off your dental health due to dental fear and anxiety, our team is prepared to help you feel at ease during your appointment.

We have different sedation options to help reduce your anxiety.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide (or “happy air” for our pediatric patients) is administered through a small breathing mask over the nose. This is a good option for mildly anxious patients. Breathing the gas can help put patients at ease. The gas is mild and is quickly eliminated from the body once the mask is removed.

Oral Conscious Sedation

For patients with moderate to severe dental anxiety or patients in need of extensive dental treatment, we offer oral conscious sedation. Conscious sedation is administered through a pill (or liquid form for our pediatric patients) to take prior to the appointment. Patients will remain conscious throughout the appointment and can still communicate with us. There is a recovery time with this method of sedation and we require a chaperone and driver to accompany the patient.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is the deepest form of conscious sedation one can receive in a dental office setting. Our office provides IV sedation for extractions, bone grafting, and implants. With IV sedation, most patients do not recall any events of the procedure. This is not deep sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Peter Pham provides IV sedation services at Rosharon Family Dental. He is a general dentist providing oral surgery services. After graduating from dental school, he completed over 400 hours in continuing education in training of removal of wisdom teeth, implant surgery, and IV sedation. IV sedation is an excellent option for patients with moderate to severe dental anxiety.
